Security and Policies
Security must be considered at several levels in the project:
- Middleware and application security: We will continuously assess security issues with the selected software and provide timely updates.
- Operational security: This work comprises tracking of security incidents and auditinggrid installations. A focused effort will be made to actively collaborate with the existing CERT community of the Swiss universities, tap into their experience, and seek their advice on security issues.
The project will respect security guidelines and practices already in use at the participating institutions. The usage of the grid shall be governed by a set of policies between resource providers, virtual organizations, and users. Extensive work in this area has already been provided by the LCG and EGEE projects. We intend to use the corresponding policies and adapt them in collaboration with all stakeholders to the needs of the Swiss higher education sector.
