We are implementing an individual-based population genetic model in Matlab using GC3Pie.
Our simulations investigate the influence of varying levels of natural and sexual selection on patterns of population genetic variation at the major histocompatibility complex, a component of the adaptive immune system noted for its exceptionally high level of genetic diversity.
Our current analyses incorporate a total of 100 different experimental conditions involving multiple parameters (population size, pathogen/host mutation rates, pathogenicity, and disassortative mate choice).
For each of these conditions, we simulate 100 independent replicates, which should provide robust estimates of a range of population genetic statistics.
Total CPU time for this analysis is estimated as 5.5 x 105 hours.
